Mental Health & Well-Being
At Bishop's Castle Primary School, supporting children's mental health and well-being is a key priority to us. Our role in school is to ensure that children can manage times of change and stress, and that they are supported to access help when they need it. We also strive to ensure that children learn about what they can do to maintain positive mental health and where they can go if they need help and support.
We ensure that the support needed is recognised and implemented, with all teachers and support staff working cohesively together.
We provide a range of interventions to support emotional well-being including;
A quiet nurturing room for children to feel safe and secure, to calm down or have time out.
Support the children and parents in the playground at the beginning of the school day.
1-1 sessions with identified vulnerable children.
In class support
Social groups (social and emotional needs, behaviour, friendships)
Worry boxes in each class for children to raise any worries or concerns.
1-1 Counselling each week
